This wall will be 8 feet high and 40 feet long.It will be mounted on the wall in our Auxiliary Gym. Students are never more than a few feet off the floor as they traverse (climb across) the wall. No ropes, harnesses or other special equipment is needed.
Indoor climbing is part of the “New PE.” This dynamic activity captivates all learners—even those not typically interested in physical activity. Climbing provides opportunities to build physical, cognitive, social and emotional skills. Our goal is $6,000.
We would like to install an elevator to our lower level workout area. When our building was designed in 1979, a space was built to eventually accommodate an elevator. Because of limited resources at that time, a lift was installed instead. This has worked reasonably well over the years. However, we are finding that individuals are more and more hesitant to use it.
With the aging baby boomer population, we are finding a much greater need for assisted access to our adult workout area in the lower level. Our goal for this project is $60,000.
The Family YMCA of Northwest Illinois exists to serve our community by putting Christian principals into practice in all we do building healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
One big component of our mission is a commitment to enrich the lives of youth in our community. When some are left out – it leaves us all a bit poorer. That’s because giving kids a safe and nurturing place to go benefits everyone. By introducing kids to experiences that will help them grow into responsible, successful adults, we make the community we love a better place to live.
Subject to the availability of funds, the YMCA will not turn anyone away due to the inability to pay the prescribed fees. It is this commitment to our mission that defines our purpose as a charitable organization.
Our Goal=$35,000
Funding Breakdown= 75% to General Scholarship and 25% to Youth Program Subsidies
General Scholarship In 2011 the YMCA provided more than $144,000 in membership and program scholarships. At the YMCA, it is our desire to instill in our young people important values such as caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. This happens through a variety of fun and rewarding activities such as summer day camp, youth sports, swimming and more. Youth are also able to develop valuable skills while gaining confidence and self-esteem. You simply cannot put a price tag on strengthening and enriching the character of a child.
Child Care Program One of the necessary services the YMCA is able to provide is state licensed child care. Working parents can have peace of mind knowing that the YMCA is caring for their most precious possessions. Approximately 200 children are enrolled in our care annually.
Youth Programming The YMCA provides a wide range of programs to thousands of kids annually designed not only to teach valuable skills but to foster the development of positive character development. The Strong Kids Campaign assists in the subsidy of these programs providing equipment and supplies to ensuring they are available to all.
Membership and program fees alone are not enough to support the mission generated programs of the YMCA. Through the Strong Kids Campaign, your financial gift will have an immediate impact in providing program support and financial assistance to families and children who are in need.Only by working together can we give more children the opportunity to grow in spirit, mind & body.
